Unpublished exhibition
The Condé Museum preserves 26 drawings and 4 paintings by Pierre-Paul Prudshon (1758-1823). This collection – one of the most important with those of the Louvre and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Dijon – comes mainly from the collections of Marquis Maison (12 drawings and 2 tables purchased in 1868) and Count Dejean (1 table and 13 drawings acquired in 1881), completed in 1876 by buying for sale Marcille de La Philosophie, a drawing for the hotel of Lannoy. These masterpieces are mostly black and white pencil studies on blue paper.

The Condé Museum preserves many works by Prudshon, some of whom arerevolutionary era, as The Union of Love and Friendship, study for the 1793 show table, or Joseph and Putiphar's wifeor Tyrannia, and works dating from the Consulate and Empire : Bonaparte's Triumph (1801) and The Stay of Immortality, as well as a preparatory drawing for the famous painting of the Salon of 1808: Justice and Divine Vengeance Pursuing Crime.
A beautiful set of drawings for Richness, Arts and Philosophy and friezes Seasons, evokes the decor of the Hotel de Lannoy, painted by Prudshon between 1798 and 1801 and entered the Louvre in 2005. The links between Prudshon and his companion Constance Mayerare represented by a drawing, Innocence prefers Love to Richness, and two oil sketches, Venus and Love Sleeping and The Flame of Venus, which she painted in large format and exhibited respectively at the Salons of 1804, 1806 and 1808.
These drawings, too long exposed to light in the past, and whose blue paper, insolated, discolored and browned, were restored for the exhibition Prudshon in Chantilly echoing the great retrospective of the Grand Palais in 1997. shown for the first time in their entirety Since that date.
