"Senlis has his legend, Senlis a Seraphine." Louis Gillet did not think it was so good to sum up Seraphine's first success at the exhibition of the Society of Friends of Arts organized at the City Hall of Senlis in 1927. For the fame of the artist does not weaken, on the contrary. The Senlis Museum can therefore pride itself on keeping one of the most important collections of its works.
Since 2015, they have been asked several times to appear in prestigious exhibitions in France, Germany or Japan. Some also went away to be restored and to allow a better knowledge of the unique technique of this artist without rival.
This autumn, the entire collection of the Museum of Art and Archaeology, enriched by a new acquisition, will be reunited and enhanced to testify to the virtuosity of the one whose name is still intimately linked to Senlis: Seraphine, humble housekeeper dedicated to painting.
